At the Lower Mainland Humane Society, animals are only adopted out once they are ready, and an adoption match is only made to a home that is suitable to each animal as an individual, and vice versa. We take in many medically and behaviorally challenged animals who are likely to be refused intake by other organizations – because of this, we always have long-term and permanent residents at our sanctuary and/or in foster care. All of our long-term foster and sanctuary animals are shown below, along with their barrier(s) to adoption.

Please consider sponsoring one of these animals for as little as $10/month. For each animal you sponsor, you will be sent a personalized sponsorship certificate which includes a photograph of the pet. All sponsorship donations are tax deductible.

Please note that animals available for adoption are posted on our Available Animals page. Many of the pets shown below are still undergoing rehabilitation or are permanent foster/sanctuary animals, and are not available for adoption at this time.
